Type: Remodel

Size: 1500 sqft

Location: The Bluffs, Parkville, Missouri

Client: Married Couple with Two Young Children

Response:

The clients wanted their unfinished walk-out basement to be converted into an integral part of their home with a “warm modern” design vocabulary. The program included offices for the parents, a home theater area, a small kitchen a dining room, a work-out area, and a hearth room. The floor plan was left as open as possible, with partial height walls and changes in levels, materials and finishes used to help define the various spaces and maintain the striking volume and proportion of the existing space.

The house sits on a very steep wooded hillside, encouraging the use of wood and stone to harmonize with the vast wooded views.

Client Comments:

“Bill Poole did a great job and provided excellent work. The design of our basement is truly unique and we are quite thankful for Bill’s creativity, advice, and overall plan. Specifically, the advice and plan were fantastic. He did a great job of asking questions, determining what would fit with our lifestyle and budget, and then designing a space that has exceeded all of our expectations.

Jill and I recommend Driftworks to anyone, especially those who want a contemporary cool space.”
